I know, I know! It’s not Christmas anymore. And I know that “blue” usually means a sad feeling. But this family gives “Blue Christmas” a whole new meaning so I just have to share! I did not post these sooner because the family used these portraits for Christmas gifts and so I didn’t want to spoil the surprise.
This family is a regular holiday customer and they are total pros at posing and dressing up for the occasion. They make me look extra-good :) This year was a return to Shinn Park & Arboretum in November. It is truly a hidden gem in Fremont that a lot of photographers cherish. Though most of the flowers were not in bloom there was no lack of brilliant colors. The great golden tree in the center of the lawn was something straight out of a fairy tale. We had the session early morning and the sun was working magic lighting up the tree and backlighting our scenes.
The red barn (below) is always a favorite and there is always at least one shady side thanks to it’s size. I think their blue outfits create the perfect eye-popping contrast with the red. Not to mention blue is one of my personal favorite Christmas colors. We don’t have actual snow and ice in the winter here in the Bay Area so putting our blue icicle lights and snowy trees out is our way of making up for that!
The Japanese garden area at the park has this amazing dried-up waterfall area that is just right for posing large families. The staggered boulders seem like they were made for it. The backlighting was strong for this shot which makes for a dream-hazy picture. Sometimes I do this as a special effect but there was no need - it was was a naturally-enchanting moment.
Did I mention getting your pictures taken is lots of FUN with Journey to Memories?! Go ahead and run around. Roll in the dirt. Play in the fountains. And please do toss the multitude of fall leaves at each other! This is what a JTM photo session is all about.
This last photo (below) is the last page of their album. I love the stories these photos tell. What story would you like to tell with your photo session?
